Caption - All You Have To Say Is - 200x200A few years ago I watched the transformation of Ron Bradley, a friend in the central Florida area, as he worked his tail off to transform his mind and body and became fit in a relatively short amount of time.  He posted his transformation on Facebook for all to see.  Needless to say, this made quite an impression on me in that once I finally made the decision to start taking care of myself and gettin fit, I contacted him to find out how he did it.  As a result, he introduced me to the Beachbody line of products, including Shakeology, as discussed here, along with Power 90 and P90X, and more. Caption - Its Possible-200x200I signed up as a Beacbody Coach (more on that here) and ordered Power 90, which seems to be more of a "beginner's" exercise product that really re-introduced me to the idea of moving again. After years of a sedentary lifestyle, I couldn't just jump into some insane workout that would discourage me with soreness.

The key behind Power 90 and P90X most of the Beachbody products is muscle confusion. Its not some boring treadmill or lifting weights or even running.  I've never really enjoyed the gym.  I'm not a lab rat!!  Personally, I prefer moving around and playing sports, not sitting on some machine doing the same motion over and over.  I enjoy the Beachbody programs because they're much more than that and the exercises are always changing.

ShakeologyI think we've all tried a hundred different shake drinks, all claiming to be exactly what you need. Personally, I wanted a "meal replacement" that not only filled me up with less calories, but one that had all the nutrients most shakes leave out.  Oh, and taste is important -- I can't stand the shakes that taste chalky.

JasonWHoyt on MyFitnessPal We all understand that if you eat too much, you'll gain weight, and if you cut back, you'll lose weight.  But how much is too much and how do we keep track of it?  I didn't want to begin a lifestyle change without being able to keep track of what I was eating and without seeing my progress.  With the My Fitness Pal app, I keep a daily diary of what I eat and I can see how it affects me all throughout the day.

Step one in beginning your journey, download this app and/or use the website.

Based on your height, age, weight and activity level, there's a specific number of calories you should eat each day in order to maintain your weight.  If you eat more than that, you gain.  If you eat less than that, you lose.  Simple enough.

Also, remember this:  3,500 Calories = 1 lb.

Therefore, if you eat 500 less calories per day for 7 days, you'll lose 1 lb per week

500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories = 1 lb./week

THIS is why I think its so important to track what you eat and your caloric intake.  If you're going to eat less calories per day, you're going to want to pay attention to how you spread them around so you're not left starving in the morning or not having enough calories for dinner. is a HUGE help.
