Mr. Ertel is a Seminole County resident, husband and father of 2. He graduated from Seminole County's Lake Howell high (the community that he still calls home), graduated the University of Maryland and served 8 years in the US Army. He's served as the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections for 7 years. In 2012 he testified before a United States Senate subcommittee about election law. He was recognized as an elections expert by the American Bar Association, the American Association of Political Consultants and the International Electoral Affairs Symposium. He was a 2011 recipient of the Campaigns and Elections magazine's Innovator Award.
