The Tea Party Movement

The national tea party movement began with the first round of simultaneous events on February 27th, 2009 in 51 cities.  Jason participated in the original conference calls the weekend before which were inspired by Rick Santelli’s rant on Thursday, February 19th that launched the modern-day tea party movement.  Since that time he has not only worked with an incredible group of patriots throughout central Florida as they’ve planned and organized several events, he has also collaborated with organizers around the country volunteering countless hours.

Central Florida Tea Party Council (CFTPC)
During the summer of 2010 Jason and several of those that have been engaged in the movement since the beginning determined that it was necessary to help establish more local groups throughout central Florida and share best practices through collaboration.  As a result, the Central Florida Tea Party Council was formed.

Sons & Daughters of Liberty (SnDL)
Beginning in April 2009, a group of patriots from across the state of Florida began collaborating and sharing ideas.  The groups called themselves the Sons & Daughters of Liberty.  They’ve recently decided, however, to formalize their association with an actual organization to be filed soon.  Jason has been working with Tom Gaitens, who facilitates this group and was recently named one of the top ten Floridians of 2010, since March of 2009 at the second Orlando tea party.

The National Tea Party Federation (NTPF)
In April of 2010, as false charges of racism hit the news, it became apparent that the tea party movement needed to respond. Jason was invited to launch the National Tea Party Federation and he joined a few patriots in Minneapolis, MN for the press conference announcing the formation of the group to provide clarity of message, rapid response to media misinformation while continuing to build the brand equity of the Tea Party movement.  While the National Tea Party Federation enjoys no formal tea party organization or official leadership as they completely understand that no one organization leads the tea party movement, Jason does sit on the steering committee which helps filter which media issues the NTPF should address.

“Voices of the Tea Party” Advisory Group – Published by Harper Colllins’ eBook Division, Broadside Books
In April of 2011, publishing giant, Harper Collins, launched their eBook series, “Voices of the Tea Party”.  The purpose of this initiative is to encourage tea party leaders from around the country to publish an eBook about their experiences with the tea party movement.  History will be written about the tea party movement–it might as well be written by tea party leaders themselves.  Michael Patrick Leahy, author of the upcoming book on the ideological origins of the tea party movement, and one of the founders and host of the original conference calls that launched the nationwide movement, invited Jason to participate on the Advisory Group to generate ideas for upcoming books.
