Happy Birthday Tea Party Movement

On February 27th, 2009, the nationwide Tea Party movement was born. As most of us recall, Rick Santelli ranted on Thursday, February 19th, 2009 from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange about the latest bailout.  That weekend, a handful of patriots gathered on a conference call arranged by Christina Botteri and Michael Patrick Leahy (TCOT Founder), to begin planning simultaneous tea parties in cities across the country.  On February 21st, I recorded these thoughts on my old blog, MyAmericanism.com:

For those of you unaware, Rick Santelli from CNBC, on Thursday from the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade, ranted against President Obama's "stimulus" bill which seemed more like a piece of spending legislation than actual stimulus.

Rick commented that he'd be forming his very own Chicago Tea Party this July and asked if anyone wanted to join. Since then, conservatives nationwide have been uniting to plan their very own Tea Party in cities all across the country.

Orlando is no exception.

More to come....

As a result, 51 cities and 30,000 citizens gathered on Friday, February 27th, 2009 at Noon for the first round of nationwide tea parties, including our event in Orlando.  In just a few short weeks 850 cities with 1.2 million attendees gathered on Tax Day, April 15th, 2009.

Since that time, America has embarked upon an Awakening.  This was never about one man, one president, or even one administration.  An angst began to brew the last few years of the Bush administration and boiled over with a series of takeovers and bailouts.  Since then, we've awoken to the damage 100 years of progressive policies and belief in what big government, big spending, big agency, big bureaucracy, big government departments and central planning has done to this country resulting in big deficits, big national debt and outrageous unfunded liabilities that will have to be paid on the backs of future generations.

We are awake, and we have lots of work to do.

Happy Birthday Tea Party Movement!!
